Grave Robbers Steal Human Remains from Crypt

by admin on August 24, 2010

When grave robbers strike, it’s usually jewels or other valuables that were buried with the deceased that they’re after. However, in Long Island, police are dealing with a different brand of criminal. A human body is missing from a mausoleum.

Sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning grave robbers apparently hopped the fence at the cemetery and broke into three mausoleums. The body of a female who died 12 years ago is now missing.

Police suspect more than one person was involved in the theft of human remains because the body would have had to have been hoisted over the fence for them to remove it from the cemetery grounds.
