Teenagers need to exercise to stay healthy, just like everyone else. They are also often unmotivated. However, Robert Barker devised a way to get his teenage stepson up and moving, which also happened to get him arrested for child abuse.
Barker’s stepson was feeling dizzy in the 91 degree heat during a youth football game and was pulled out of the game to rest. Barker took him home, but decided the boy needed to work on his endurance. He set up cones in the front yard and demanded that the kid run drills. To get him moving, Barker fired a BB gun at the start of each drill.
When the police arrived, Barker’s stepson had already taken a shower. When police talked to him he said he feared that Barker would shoot him with the gun. The cops hauled Barker in and charged him with child abuse and aggravated assault. He’s out of jail now, but is not allowed to have any contact with his stepson. His court date is in October.
