Suspected Mass Suicide: Police Searching for 5 adults and 8 kids

An emergency alert that reeks of Jonestown has been issued in Southern California after officials learned of a possible mass suicide pact involving five adults and eight children.


The group was last seen at a prayer meeting at 1a.m. yesterday (Saturday) in sunny Palmdale, California and is believed to be traveling in two vehicles.

They were officially reported missing at 2p.m. when two husbands of two women in the group showed up at the police station with a big bag of crazy that included letters from people in the group saying they were going to meet Jesus and their dead relatives. The bag also contained all the identification of all the missing people, their money, and other possessions.

UPDATE: The group has been found, alive and well. They were praying in the park.

    that's insane. this is not religion it's a cult. religions do not ask people to kill themselves. it's people with no religion that are in danger of these things because they are looking for a purpose and cults promise them one. LOOK OUT!

    sometimes people make wrong choices. and sometimes no one wants to help or see a poor person problems because some do not know what it is like by seeing these and holes in the shoes did anyone try to reach out and help them?? I think sometimes a group has a leader and then convience the others no one cares so they do other things. I believe all religion should reach out and see these things before they happen and start opening up to those in needs of spiritual help maybe some do but ALOT do not. The devil wants to destroy the body and some do not know that. I know there is a better way . Get out and look around…reach out and help someone ..maybe this will not happen again. The children knew no wrong…a spirtual battle…no one knew…

    Religion is a different thing from faith. The word 'religion' refers to the practices and affiliations adjunct to one's faith. It's possible to be a person of profound faith, and at the same time unreligious.

    That being said, people led all the time into cult activity by way of a charismatic leader, whether they already 'have religion' or not. Cult leaders are often able to appeal not only to those 'looking for purpose,' as you say, but are able to manipulate those who profess to be faithful, using such devices as guilt or shame. Many, many people have given up large sums of money, been sexually abused, harmed others, etc. at the persuasion of pastors, priests, and the like, in spite of their professed belief…
