Mom Gets Her 4 Year Old Stoned With Pot Brownie, Says It’s No Big Deal

by admin on October 1, 2010

Nineteen-year-old Marisela Guadalupe Barraza of San Francisco has plead not guilty to misdemeanor child endangerment. It all went down when Marisela’s sister noticed that her 4 year old had slurred speech.

Authorities say Barraza was arrested after her sister noticed the 4-year-old had slurred speech and droopy eyelids on Sunday. The sister took the girl the next day to a hospital, where tests revealed she had marijuana in her system.

Eventually Barraza admitted that the kid ate a pot laced brownie before she had time to stop her.

Barraza allegedly described the incident as “no big deal.”

Welcome to parenting 101: While pot brownies are delicious, they shouldn’t be left within reaching distance of a 4 year old.

  • Yawnyawn

Yawn, it really is a non issue, ingesting it by eating it won't cause any problems

Although its not really going to kill her, you really shouldn't give it to 4 year olds – not good.

  • No

She's right, a little pot really isn't a big deal. It'd be a lot more dangerous if she gave her kid a beer. It's so ridiculous what a drama the media makes out of everything.. idiots.

  • Mnhamblet

It's not going to kill her, absolutely.

Barraza should not have said that it was “no big deal,” but it really wasn't a big deal from a health standpoint. From a parenting standpoint, however, it IS a big deal in the eyes of the court.

The most damage she perhaps did to herself and her child was that statement.

I'm always amazed at the amount of stupidity exuded by the masses.
It is not “no big deal”; this woman should not allow her young child to ingest pot. OF COURSE, it's not going to kill the kid, and SURE, it happened once, there's nothing they can do to change that now. BUT it should not be allowed to happen again. The cannaboids present in pot have a strong affect on the human mind, and to be given to a growing child will have lifetime lasting effects, many of those being negative. You're changing the brain chemistry of a child, a FOUR year old nonetheless, and altering his or her natural development.

    Use your brains, dipshits.

    Dude I think its hilarious

OOPS except all research says otherwise, including and up to PROTECTING the brain. There are no as you say “negative effects”. Go educate yourself you misinformed parrot.

  • 2theidiotabove

dumbass, you don't know what you're talking about. Quit spewing the propaganda you WERE TOLD. Use YOUR brain, SIMPLETON.

  • FairlyUnbAlanced

Setting aside the FEAR MONGERING, it was not like she would be permanently damage, like she would be if her auntie lit up a cigarette!

  • ganjalo

The side effects may be minor and getting kids high may be wrong but the real issue is whether or not we want to waste time prosecuting a woman over it. Fine her and move on

like others have said, health wise and chemically it’s not an issue. But common sense should dictate(and being high is no excuse) that you shouldn’t leave drugs accessible to kids, especially if there baked into a brownie…it’s not like that’s something they would normally want or eat.

It’s true though, her saying it’s no big deal is her biggest problem at this point. It makes it seem like she just doesn’t care, practically reinforcing the stereotype that weed makes people not care or be interested in anything.

dont be a dumbass, there have been no studies showing that marijuana affects the brain at all, ever, developing or not. many of the compounds in cannabis are found in “normal” foods like chocolate. read a book before you spew propoganda
