Man Burns Hats to Chase Away Demons

by admin on December 1, 2010

Jose Delcid was arrested for reckless burning after setting several hats on fire at his friend’s home in an effort to remove the demons he thought were there.

Delcid told police he had smoked some bad pot recently and since that time has been having “strange thoughts” and has seen people’s eyes get larger. His friend’s wife told police that he has been fixated on God and the Bible since smoking the bad weed.

He was turned away from the psychiatric unit at the hospital because hospital policy prohibits anyone who starts a fire from being admitted. Since he could not get into the psychiatric ward, police arrested him. His bond was originally set at $5,000, but was reduced to $1,000 at his arraignment, with the condition that he get treatment for substance abuse and mental health therapy.

No word on whether the hat burning got rid of the ill spirits or not.
