7 students from a San Fransisco middle school were taken to the hospital after they ate rat poisoning. The kids, ranging in ages from 10 to 12, found the white powder in one of the top cupboards.

Fire Department spokeswoman Lt. Mindy Talmadge said Thursday the children had apparently mistaken the poison for candy, and that two of them ingested it, while the others simply licked it.
This really makes you question the intelligence level of the children. At 12 years old you’re in 6th or 7th grade. How would that thought process even work? “Oh look guys, white powder! Let’s give it the old taste test before we continue.”
Fortunately, none of the children were harmed, but the issue is still being investigated.
